Activity Option 2:

White Water Rafting - Half Day Adventure with Glacier Raft Co

Whitewater Rafting is a popular sport in the Flathead Valley / Glacier National Park region due to the rapid glacial and snow melt that occurs as spring turns to summer.

Glacier Raft Co is the premier whitewater rafting outfitter in the area, navigating guests through Class II-III (beginner-intermediate) sections of rapids along the Flathead River. Their half-day whitewater tour is beginner and family friendly, AKA extremely safe while still being adventurous and fun.

Your day with this option:

If you choose Half Day Whitewater rafting trip, you will depart from H+G Lodge at 11:30am, stopping for lunch at one of our favorite spots on the way.

When you arrive at Glacier Raft Co, you’ll be fitted for a wet suit and paddle before loading onto an old school bus that will take you, your rafts, and your guides to the starting point on the Flathead River.

The actual rafting experience begins with a guided tour of the area on calm waters as your instructor teaches you basic rowing skills. Rapid levels increase as the tour goes on.

You will spend approximately 3 hours on the water navigating 8 miles of river. The entire experience is about 4 hours long.

You will be back at the lodge at approximately 6pm.

$50 includes the rafting trip and your wet suit rental.

IS WHITE WATER RAFTING SAFE?:

Glacier Raft Co’s half-day whitewater tour is designed to be both beginner and family friendly, AKA extremely safe while still being adventurous and fun. Glacier Raft Co specifically is extremely reputable, and each raft has an experienced guide on board.

While difficult to predict exactly, typically raft trips in September feature calmer waters at lower levels, as the snow melt that provides the most intense rapids in early summer has long since subsided. All rapids by this time of year will likely be Class II, which are far more beginner-friendly.

Helmets and life vests are provided.
